Hello, i`m starting a new BIM project as a leading architect so i recieved point cloud surface generated by AutoCAD Civil 3D. File format is LandXML. I know revit needs a Site designer extension so i have installed it but have some problems.
Lets go step by step.
1. Lets say i open new architectural project and open site plan.
2. Site Designer > Import LandXML > Positioning Auto Origin to Origin. Import Completed.
3. As u can see my topography went to origin coordinates and was far from my project base point.
4. If u zoom in the topography u will see this
5. If u take top view and spot a coordinate u get this:
Compared to topograhy in 2D which was made with autocad u can see that revit topography is positioned corretly. Its pretty much the same coordinates begining, and number count.
6. So let say i would like my Survey point to remain 0.0.0 but my project base point to be the one i spotted in Revit topography. So i copy the same coordinates to project base point. Because revit is milimeters (mm) and civil is meters (m) i add additional 3 numbers after dot.
7. After i go back to site plan and use command Zoom Fit (ZF) i see this:
As u can see my topograhpy is still somewhere in the galaxy besides the fact that i entered my project base point as the point i marked in topography. And all elevation tags went somewhere too.
Any ideas what im doing wrong?
Any help would be crucial. And sorry for my English i just started IELTS preparation class.

Do you have access to the source AutoCAD file? It looks like it has a rogue element that doesn't belong in it. It needs to be deleted (cleaned up) at the source.

You shouldn't move the PBP in your project. You should move the Toposurface.
...the Toposurface in placed in relationship to your building. That is, instead of moving Mohammad to the mountain; move the mountain to Mohammad.
Your Survey Point will establish the "correct coordinates".
You're thinking about this too literally. A coordinate is simply relative to something, such as a geodetic marker. The Survey Point is that geodetic marker. If the site pad on your toposurface is suppose to "read" 500 ft. above sea level, then move your SP down 500 ft, and set your toposurface's spot coordinates' "Elevation Base" parameter to Survey Point. See what I mean?
I wasn't reading all the posts so pardon me if it is already addressed.
You should import the XML and create a topography in a separate Revit model - let's call it Site model. Then link the Site model to your Building model, move it to align properly with your building, then Acquire the shared coordinates from it. Your Project Base Point needs not and should not be touched.

Can you try the below?
Import the XML file in AutoCAD and this can be converted to objects.
Then you can do a simplify the CAD files before importing to Revit.

I don;t know about IFC but if you intend to work with Navisworks, why not export to NWC, which you can include all linked models?
