Hi,
I'm trying to create my own Titleblock. I created a shared parameter. I put the Labels in the sheet. The question is: what do I have to do so that when I load the template family in a project My previews of the labels are shown and not only question marks. Also, how can I make my template so that the labels show in the property and I don't have to select the question marks but I can directly from the property TAB insert the information. Below are 2 photos to better understand y question.
Thanks!
I actually did that, maybe I don't know how to do it properly. I opened a new project and there at MANAGE > Project Parameters I added those from my Shared Parameters file that I created. But still it won't show in the project. This is in the NEW PROJECT. Thanks!
You have added many parameters already exist in Project Information. Try to use as many system parameters as you can and only add what are not there. The reason is that system parameters are readily available to use for labels in the Titleblock family.
As for additional parameters not showing, did you add them from the same shared parameters text file used for the Titleblock family? Did you tick Project Information category box when you add them?
Yes, I used Project Information Box. But how can I select OTHERS. My Parameters are TEXT, and I created a new TXT file for shared files that I created. In fact I created all LABELS that I needed in the new TXT file.
From your screenshots, it looks like your Titleblock is functioning correctly. The top screenshot is from your family and the bottom screenshot is from your project; right? Basically, the top one is showing "Sample Value" and the bottom is showing no value (indicated by the question mark). Just input a value into the parameter field for the question mark. You can do this directly, by clicking on the question mark, or by entering the value into the blank box next to the parameter name under the Titleblock Properties.
Does that help?

Again, you need not create shared parameters for:
Sheet Number
Sheet Name
Scale
Checked By
Drawn By
Date
Project name
Project Address
Project Number
Client Name
They are system parameters that Revit already gives them to you and ready to use. Just create a label in the Titleblock family and you will be able to add any them to the label. No extra work needed.
Revit is not AutoCAD, you don;t have to create every single Attribute for a Titleblock.
Yes I get it, but for example if I want to add the Client Address which it is not as a default option I would have to create it. Do I create a new TXT file or just a new GROUP where I add a new parameter.
Also, where does Revit save its Shared Parameter file, because while I was creating a new TXT file now I can't find the default one. Thanks!
@Anonymous: I thought your issue was with question marks. This has nothing to do with the Shared Parameter text file. You've already added the Shared Parameter to your Titleblock. I can see it clearly in your screenshot.
@Anonymous: I think I get it now. You want to add that same Shared Parameter to your Project Information through your Project Parameters; correct? So it pulls that information into the Titleblock automatically; right?
Yes @barthbradley correct.
For example when I use the Shared Parameters that are already as default I can see in the Project for example CLIENT NAME, or PROJECT NAME, then I can change them as I wish. But when I created new Shared Parameters the SAMPLE VALUE that I added doesn't show. I know that I can REMEMBER or I can see what information to put there but it would be more convenient to have it displayed. you can see the pictures below, 1st one is from the Titleblock Family the other is when insert it to a project. I added it in the Project Parameters as SHEETS.
Thanks!

The question mark indicates the parameter not present in the project. Adding it to the family is only 1/2 the job. You have to add the shared parameter from the same source shared parameters text file, to the project and assign it to the Project Information category, not Sheets category (unless you want to have different Client addresses on different Sheets).
@Anonymous: Judging from the "Like", I'm gathering that that's what you are trying to do; that is: include that same Shared Parameter in your Project Information. Do you get what you need to do now?

Thanks!
You add the Shared Parameter to PROJECT INFORMATION -- not SHEETS
...the SAME Shared Parameter that you used in your Titleblock Family.
I want to have the option to fill the LABELS from my properties bar, can I do that. For example like the other fields in the Identity Data or OTHER.
Also I did put the Shared Parameters from Project Parameters in the Project. I added the Shared Parameter, and I assigned it to Project Information. Still the question mark!
It seems I just can't stretch it enough. The parameters in project and in family must be from the entry in the same text file.
They are from the same txt file, I created a new Shared Parameter Group in the existing Shared Parameters File. But still it won't show. I also added it in the Category as a Project Information. :S

Is the Shared Parameter that you assigned to Project Information the EXACT SAME Shared Parameter that you used in the Titleblock Family? If so, is that Parameter field, that is now shown under Project Information, been supplied a value (e.g. client address )? If yes and yes, then that "client address" will be shown in the Titleblock (e.g. no question mark).
However, now it sounds like this is NOT what you wanted to do, because you're saying that you want to fill this information into each Titleblock manually via the Sheet's Properties. In this case, you need to assign that Shared Project Parameter on SHEETS. If it's the EXACT SAME S.P. that your Titleblock is using, then you can enter "client address" on either the Titleblock or View Properties to reconcile the question mark.

Just redo it fresh.
Keep only one text file, get rid of of the rest. Delete the label in the family, add a new label and use the Client Address parameter from the text file. Load in project. Add the same Client Address parameter from the same text file to Project Information category.
