The weirdest thing. I am creating a titleblock family with 2 different types to go from 24x36 to 30x42.

I have created the dimension parameters and all but I want the top right hand point to be the 0,0 for lack of better wording. How do I set this ?

It is recommended to create multiple title block families. Use types for some other things (like controlling the visibility of some items). a x b was never the subject of title block types.

However, here are some things you should know about the title blocks. They are not aligned with the hidden origin. So, the first thing you can do is to discover where the origin is. Draw two lines in AutoCAD (intersect them at 0,0,0) . Import it into the title block family, align the left and the bottom title block line with the dwg and then delete the dwg.

If you still want to constrain a x b with parameters, here s what you do:

1. Import the dwg

2. Draw two reference lines and align them with the dwg

3. Constrain the title block lines : lock the left title block line to the reference line, lock the bottom line to the reference line and then add labeled dimensions to control the right and the top title block line.

4. Delete dwg

Locking the border to the W x H parameters is not a problem.  But how would you deal with the text and labels?  Are they supposed to move when you swap between different types?

The way I constrain the text to the sides is by adding the text to groups, inside the group will be invisible lines which can be locked to the border lines.

Then pin the top and the right border lines so that when you change sizes, only the bottom and the left border lines move.  Is it what you want?

Yea I thought that would be the case, but its not.  they just move. I believe its the way that you lock the dimensions that set this, but I forgot the process when I figured it out years ago for another firm.

Hi

Best practice would be to have two different / separate title block for different sizes..

giving parameter to size seems easy, but will create other issues like

1. Location of logo

2. Text sizes

3. Visibility of North point, project north, true north

4. revision text, size, location.. etc

keep it simple and create two different block family...

and in the project, worst case if the location is not coming correct, you can always move the

sheet block in the project, as well as views.. and use grids in the project to align the views..

cheers
