Titleblock stamp that masks anything behind it.

Hello,

We want to include a WIP stamp to the titleblock family. The desired draw order for the WIP is always on top, however, I am finding that when the titleblock family is loaded into the project model the titleblock elements will always appear on top.

Tried to use an Image, a Masking and Filled Region, used directly in the titleblock family and nested into a Generic Annotation family but none of these work.

Any ideas on this is possible at all?

Thank you

Have you think about creating the titleblock stamps as titleblock family? It does a better job hiding titleblock content.

thank you for your reply.

Sadly, Titleblock families cannot be nested into other Titleblock families.

Stamps need not and should not omit the drawing content.  That's why adding stamp in PDF is a better approach because you can set transparency and all other properties to the stamp more freely.

Yes....there is no need to. You can place titleblock on top of titleblock in the project environment. If you want to turn off the stamp, you can tie one of the titleblock to global parameter.

@barthbradley , @ToanDN , @syman2000 , I appreciate your insights on this matter. There is a preference within our team to have the Stamp nested in the Titleblock family, with its visibility set as an instance parameter. In my perspective, this approach offers several advantages:

  1. Consistency: By embedding the Stamp within the Titleblock family, we ensure a consistent placement and appearance across all sheets.

  2. Simplified Setup: Unlike the use of global parameters, which may require additional setup in files where the titleblock is loaded into a model lacking such parameters, nesting ensures a more robust solution. Users only need to load the titleblock family without worrying about additional configurations.

  3. Dynamic Labeling: Nesting allows us to include a Label referencing the Sheet Issue Date parameter directly in the stamp. This dynamic integration might be challenging to achieve through external files like PDFs or images.

Taking these factors into consideration, I'm thoroughly exploring all possible nesting options mentioned earlier before contemplating alternative approaches.

The screenshot below illustrates the graphical looks of how we would like for the stamp to show on the titleblocks.

Set the nested generic annotation family to shared see if it works.
