Tilt and pan Light source

Hi,

Is it possible to tilt and pan light source without nesting the light source?

For users that want BIM data up-to-date it's impossible for us to make an object that could be upto date when It need to be nested.

Maybe the user want's to change Light source by them self without that HighTech 10x master help.

If I just could "align" light source to a reference line everything would have change. And everything's might be easier for us and users.

Or maybe I've been missing that this works? Or is there a way that I can align or lock Light source with reference line?

Very difficult to understand what you are after. Are you wanting to control the tilt angle via a Instance Parameter. If so, replace Tilt Angle Labeled Dimension with your own Tilt Angle Parameter that is Instance Driven.

Well, I hope I can try to clarify what I mean, by the photo attach.

Nr 1 This "head" is nested and has the rotation point at nr 2. the light source should be at nr 3.

The simplest would be to align light source at nr.3. But this do not work because when rotating 1, we get a bunch of errors.

And we can't place light source at nr 2 because it would be inside the nr 1.

Then how do I do then? Also attach the rvt file

I'm still unclear on what you are trying to do. The errors your getting relate to symbolic line work -- 2D elements that can't be drawn on the rotated Plane they are hosted to.

But with regards to having the Light Source maintaining its relationship to the front of the Head when it's rotated, this can be accomplished by hosted the Light Source to the intersection of 2 Ref. Planes and driving them with Parameters. If this is what you mean, I can elaborate further on how to do this using a couple of simple trig formulas based on distance and tilt angle.

Here; this family shows you want I'm talking about. The head and light source tilt together from 0  to 90 degrees.  You'll need additional parameters to be able to rotate it in the opposite direction, or greater than 90 or -90 degrees.  Please be aware that this one will break if you try to rotate it in the opposite direction, or greater than 90 or -90 degrees.

Course Detail Level Symbolic Line work is re-hosted to Ref. Level.

Visibility Settings are unchanged I think.

Would you be willing to show steps to complete this? I've been trying to figure it out but I am stuck
