This Symbol Causes Revit to Be Slow

I am assuming this means that the element is apart of a workset and when I click it I am taking ownership of it, which in turn causes it to take more time. This takes too much time to move simple element such as text.

Is there a way speed things up? Can I take ownership of all elements so it runs faster?

The only time I've run into this, it wasn't a Revit problem. It was due to an inadequate network.

That symbol appears for everything if you are in a worksharing environment.  It shouldn't impact the performance in any noticeable way.
