I made a plumbing fixture family to demonstrate the illogical behavior. It has one rectangle extrusion intentionally starting at ref level 0' and extending to *negative* 8' and arbitrary inches. I repeat, -8'~inches. I want the rectangle extended 8' below the ref level.
Once loaded in an empty project, the "elevation from level" parameter value is correct at 0'-0. however now the rectangle is 8'-0 above the level. Revit has clearly ignored the levels and used the bottom-most part of the geometry as level zero. How do I fix this?
Odd. Your test family placed exactly as you were expecting when I placed it in a test model in Revit 2024.2.0 (24.2.0.63). The top of the extrusion remained a L1, the level at which it was placed, and extends downward. (The rectangle above is the host wall.)
I had created a family of my own, from the non-hosted Plumbing Fixture family template, and it also projected down, below the placement level. The Elevation from level parameter is set to -8'-0"; that is how it came in for me.
