Theatrical Lighting Plot Symbols

I am looking for some help setting up an Ellipsoidal Light family so that in plan view they show as Lighting Plot Symbols that are standardized. I would like the scale of the fixture to follow the scale of the view, which makes symbols not work well. However, I would like to have parametric text labels which I can't make in the general family model. I also would like the text to keep a (CAD-like) non-annotative so that they stay fit to the lighting plot symbol correctly.

How can I best mix these two family types together to generate a useful family that can be driven parametrically?

What about Tagging in Project?

You ought to look at, and reverse-engineer, some of the OOTB Families the include Annotation Symbols in the Model Family -- such as the attached "Outlet-GFI" RFA.

I'm glad that you were able to decipher the issue from that rather confusing description. I couldn't figure out if the "symbols" and text were scalable or annotative or not.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

That is what we currently do, but we are wanting to use more standardized symbols found here.

So you are familiar and practiced with the workflow. Good. Now, what's preventing you from using those standardized symbols?  I don't understand the problem.
