Hey Everyone,

 

For the past couple of AU's I have attended Marcello's class on Revit in Motion. Well this last class took-ed! And the object I have attached I am sure could be done in Dynamo. But that is not the point of this post.

 

The stuff Marcello showed us was / is interesting and entertaining. However, an applied condition would be nice! And in my work I found just the opportunity to create a family engaging the solution. I work for a larger firm in Seattle and I am implementing Revit / BIM for one of the major client studios. 

 

So, here was the problem: we needed containment curbs for several different conditions which can be scheduled. Initially, we made the curbs part of the wall with an applied Sweep with the wall type. But we needed a way to adjust the end placement conditions required by the client.

 

My solution: the Revit in Motion principals. I've attached a copy of the file for you all to see, backward engineer, and perhaps use as you see fit. In this iteration the end condition angles are adjustable as well as the chamfered edges along one side of the curb. For plan views at small scales the inside symbolic line work can be toggled off. BUT the adjustable slopes at the ends is SO COOL! I am literally thinking of additional applied conditions!

Thanks for posting! I love this guy! Hadn't seen his "Revit in Motion" before. His "Make Hardscape Follow Site Topography and Site Topography Follow Hardscape in Revit" is fantastic! A must watch (and learn)!

Talking about his fork lift and the AT-ST?  Those were fun classes (yeah, went twice....as the second time he assembled an actual AT-ST instead of just a detail item version)

@john, you should really try to attend BiLT (formerly RTC) vs AU....this year it is in Ontario and registration should be happening any day now.

Great you could apply the class concepts to your own work and families... that was what I was hoping for.

I could not realistically create examples in class for every condition in AEC....
