The best Revit 2018 Topography Hosted Railing improvement.

Dear Autodesk,

The Railing hosted to topography is something I've been waiting for a long time. You can not only use it for railing but also other purposes, see screencast below for some examples to trigger you.

But that's great, but I've got two more improvements that will make this tool even more powerful. And I think it ain't improvements that take a lot of time to implement.

  1. More then one host, at this moment when you draw a railing hosted on the topography it works fine. But when the topography is split in two, the railing (of course) won't follow the other split topography.

So even though Topography is split, can you make it possible to follow both topography, at this moment I need to split my railing also (or am I doing something wrong?)
  2. In my understanding topography uses the mass principal. Wouldn't it be cool if you can not only select topography as host? But also a face of a mass? I think this ain't a too hard thing to realize, since it is possible on topography already, just need to add the button 'by face'.

Just before 2018 was released, I was doing a project in 2017 that REALLY could have used this new feature (guardrails leading up to a bridge I was rendering for a community meeting) - happy it's here for future projects. :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

#1 should work something like the attach top/bottom tool for walls, etc. - you can attach a wall to a floor that it's not completely under. The part that doesn't attach takes the default height (from the properties), and you can attach it to another element for that portion of the wall, if desired (so the wall can attach to two different sloping floors, for example). The same functionality should be applied to railings, as above.

@JvanReij You should probably ask a moderator to change your idea title to something more descriptive (such as "host railings to more than one Topography"). Also, you can check "Chain" when you're doing multiple straight-line segments like that (and the selection tool should have been able to get you the actual property line, for the curved segment, though not sure if it would have given the correct segment direction - but it appears you can change that). Awesome ideas with the lightposts and plants, BTW. Did you just Linework-out the path line at the end (it looks like the command got edited out)?

Thanks in advance for your understanding

@Discussion_Admin Normally I see Ideas like this changed to "Archived" instead of completely moved out of the Ideas forum... Is the standard practice being changed?

Also, you neglected to link to the ideas so we could "vote on the new ides [sic] listed individually." So I created one:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/host-railing-to-more-then-one-topography-host/idi-p/73791...

(Josha, if you still want it, you can create one for #2 above)

This was a request ftom the team to have it moved here so it could get the ideas reposted and split for voting.

I figured it would be good to create the 2nd one now, too: Host Railing on a Mass Face
