I am trying to create a 6" x 18" group of three tiles (item A). I create a 6"x18"x1/4" extrusion and align the "ceramic tile- 6in" texture to the extrusion surface. Then, I create another extrusion of the same size and shape on a different plane. When I align the texture of the material to the second item (B), it shifts on the first item (A), causing that one to no longer line up. I tried to see if it was an XYZ mapping thing. I dragged item A next to item B on the same surface, expecting the textures of the two items to align. They are not aligned at all. But still, adjusting one affects the other.
So, I create a 6"x18"x1/4" extrusion and apply the same texture in the Family editor. Then, I import the family to the Revit project file and the same things happens!
Do I need to create a different texture map for each of my tile groupings? And if so, how?

HA! Your question reads almost like that math problem: If train A leaves the station going 50 miles an hour, and train B leaves the station one hour later going 70 miles an hour, how many miles will it take for train B to catch up with train A? ![]()
I think it would be easier to understand if you included pictures. Can you do that?
No. Would that be better? I used the material selection list in the properties panel.
Yeah. Sorry about that.
Here are a couple of images. The main thing is that the alignment of the texture in the family is not conserved when the family is placed into a project.

It depends. If you create all extrusions inside one family then it maybe better to paint each with a material, or assign each with a material parameter. If you create each extrusion in its onw family then it doesn't matter.
The material only have a drafting surface pattern. You need a model surface pattern to align the pattern and to match the texture map.
See revised family.
So... I created the new pattern as a model pattern inside the family like you told me, and I imported into the .rvt file and it still doesn't line up
Definitely better than it was, but still not satisfactory.
I'm sure I'm missing something. I really appreciate your patience and your help. It might be useful to note that the align texture was not working correctly in the family. When I got the lines lined up in the editor, they were off on the rendering and vice versa. Here is how the alignment looked in the editor when the tile pattern DID line up-
I shared the family again.
Edit the material in the project and align the center lines of surface pattern and the texture map using the arrow. See screenshot for important settings:
By the way, your family is a little bit off center in both directions. The family attached was fixed to dead on center.
I imported your family into my project and it is working perfectly. So, I fixed mine since it was not centered (duh) and I took the pattern from your family, saved it to a library and placed it into mine. It should work the same as in yours, right? Nope.
Looks like it worked at first but then...
It loaded the appearance aspect of the "Tile, Porcelain, 6in (REV)" but not the graphics info-
Your window in your family looks like this:
I tried all three of the alignment options (Align with element, Keep readable and Orient to view) and I got the same result each time:
And once both were saved and imported into the project, it looked like this:
Yours is, of course, the top one.
