I have searched this topic. Maybe the preponderance of material and products being dealt with is a factor but I have found no USEFUL answers. I have seen a few comments about editing work planes, but that comment alone doesn't work as the text is still reversed and also offset from the original plane it was on. Possibly a click by click walkthrough would be more specific if someone has solved this issue. In any event, I mirrored a project and modeled text that was correctly displaying on the desired surface is now reversed and displaying offset from the plane it was originally on in two of three directions. Additionally, west is now to the right of south and east to the left. New text modeling is also reversed so creating new modeled text and simply deleting the old is not an option. I have tried mirroring the text alone in the new mirrored model and it have not been successful despite using a variety of axes. Have gone to various plan views moved text to visibility in those views and attempted to rotate - the tool "works" but the text does not rotate. If you can fix this one you're good.

Sounds like you are saying that you want Mirror Project to rename your views. In other words, Revit should rename "East" Elevation to "West" Elevation when the Project is mirrored "East-to-West". How would Revit know what to name the view? What if I used "Westen" and "Osten" instead of "West" and "East"?
we are talking about the 21st Century right? As a matter of fact I do think the program should rename the building elevation views and I know you've noticed this before......the names for the views are right there in that project browser thingy. I mean we are talking about a mirror not a smoothy blender job. If Revit can put the wrong names in the mirrored version I suspect the program can put the right ones there with a little tweak.
So the View named "Whatchmacallit" would be renamed "tillcaamahctahW" when the Project is mirrored?
Throw it on the Idea Forum and see if the cat picks it up.
Hi
with that logic, if the True north is rotated 180 deg, Revit should rename all the elevations as well?
AI mode.... of Revit would do that....
You know what really bake your noodle? Mirror the West and East (with copy UNCHECKED), and see what Revit names the Views.

What I meant to say was: mirror the West and East Elevation Markers (with copy UNCHECKED), and see what Revit names the Views.

The view names are there because someone named them. If you want automatic naming elevations or sections similar to floor plan views are named by levels, you may want to try to use grid elevations. Still, it doesn't give orientations. I think automatic NSEW is an interesting idea, especially for interior elevation views.
Anyways, this has nothing to do with your original question about mirrored model text. Will have to look at it tomorrow.
Yeah seems like automatic knowing where east is is just not beyond obtainability. In any event it looks like the reversed text is a bigger deal as I had a phone support session and no fix. I couldn't help be a bit curious as to whether anyone else has even used the mirror project command. Even new text attempts on the mirrored project produced reversed text so it couldn't have gone unnoticed. Anyway hope someone is a genius out there - all I want to do is put my signs back on the building so they can be read.
What about putting the Model Text in a Family Environment and loading it into Project and then Mirroring the Family.
If you create the model text as a face based family and host it on a face then it will maintain the location after mirroring. Add a LR flip arrow to the family so that you can flip the text and you will be set to go.
Below is one right after mirror and one after flip the model text by hitting the space bar.
Thanks - I just modeled new text face based in the mirrored project and it solved the problem. Will just make signs that way in the future - with flip arrows - unless of course the bug is fixed which would be nice so separate signs don't have to be modeled. Can you make a face based text model where the letters can be a variable ?
With a Multi-Line Text or Text Parameter; sure.
...or do you mean Font? Individual letters? You would need to set-up up the Fonts, overlap them, and control which one is visible via On/Off Parameters.

Sure thing. We did that for all signage families.
