Hello everyone:

id like to know if its possible to create a text parameter like "autor: Carlos Blabla" or "creator: blababla", for a family and lock this parameter for anyone else to change this field. id like to do this in a mullion family ive already created but its not working properly and its giving me an error. My propose its not to lock the family, just to people that uses that family to known that i have created those ones.

Regards

Type in the formula box of the parameters. It will be non-editable in project and they have to open the family to modify them.

Thanks man, as ussual u are so accurate with your answers.

just one question more, do u add this through shared parameters? and you created this as a text?

You don't need to use shared parameters for this, although you might want to if you want to tag this information (or schedule it all in the same column).

You can add a formula inside the family no matter whether you used a 'regular family parameter' or a 'shared parameter'.

You only need to use shared parameters if you are running out of built-in family parameters and have to schedule the information in projects.  If it is only for internal information then you can just use normal text or multi-line text parameters.  Built-in family parameters are the best choice since it requires no extra work, consistent, and schedule-able.
