Text Leader Arrowhead Printing Issues

****Note: while drafting this post, I continued to try a few more troubleshooting options and found the source of the problem.  Because I could not find this issue on other forums, I decided to post it anyway along with the solution below.

Starting a few weeks ago, some of my text boxes won't print correctly.  Some of the fill patterns for arrowheads on text leaders print offset from the end of the leader line.  Additionally, the masking region will cover parts of the text and model/drafting elements.

Here's what I know:

  • This issue does not happen for other people in my office when they print the same sheets from the same files.
  • I have updated Bluebeam and the versions of Revit I'm using.
  • The problem does not always affect all of the text in a view, nor all views on a page, nor all sheets in a set.
  • The offset of the fill pattern from the end of the leader is not the same distance/angle.
  • While it is inconsistent in the ways described above, the issue IS consistent for affected text boxes when I try different print settings.
  • The fill patterns print correctly when using Microsoft Print to PDF and Bluebeam PDF, but only if I scale down to a small sheet size, such as 11x17.  The problem only seems to happen on larger architectural sheets, notably D, E, and E1.

It turns out this was caused by the Print Quality settings for the Bluebeam printer driver.  Anything 720dpi and lower printed correctly.  The problem started at 1200dpi and got progressively worse at higher resolutions.  Folks in my office changed their settings and recreated the printing issue.
