Text in True North

Hi,

When I set True North in my project, any text rotates along with the model. How do I get the text to stay horizontal?

Hi Michiel,

No this does not help with any text that may be angled oddly when the project is in True North. I understand that this would only affect Site views, which normally would have very little text. My concern is to keep whatever text there is in the Site view as readable as possible.

This isn't a solution to your problem, but a bit of humble advice instead:

If you think you're going to need a true-north view of something, duplicate the standard view early in the project before you've annotated everything, change its orientation, and annotate it separately.

Why would you want two views of the exact same thing with the same annotations, with the only difference being the orientation?

Understandable. This is important to the Site View. However my concern is that there may be some annotation which will carry over to the site view. More importantly, I will be getting this question from my co-workers when I coach them through setting up True North. Sigh.

When you rotate a View, whether by switch True/Project North, or by Crop Region/Scope Box, you will have to redo, most if not all, annotation.

A similar mindset should apply when changing View scale. There are more than a few people think because Revit can automatic adjust annotation size to different scales, it can arrange and align them to fit perfectly as well.
