Temporary Dimension Orientation

If I am working on a conceptual mass object in 3D and I want to see the temporary dimensions in the X-axis instead of the Y-Axis is there a way to flip this?

Temp dimensions aren't very smart. I would set up a parallel reference planes through and points you want to dimensions from/to, lock those points to those planes, and then dimension the planes, and maybe even parameterize them. Yeah, twenty seconds of extra time, but way better.

Temporary dims try and "guess" what the critical dim you want to know is, but sometimes they are wrong. if the temp dim is not giving you what you like you just have to place a permanent dim or use the measure tool. if they are at least in the same plane, you can use the witness line grips to adjust them and they will remember the position you move them to, but if they are out of plane with what you want, there is no way to move them.
