can anyone help with this been working on a template for a while now and when i come to use it it now says its been save in an older version?
What make this most strange is the fact i am in 8.1 and been working ans saving using 8.1
1) Do you have any backups that you can rename and try to use?
2) Is there an old project that you can strip out and re-use?
was the template opened in a FULL version of Revit? (not LT)
no i only have revit LT and i even have the template file open in my revit the problem occurs when i try and use it as a template
So you don't get an error when you save the file and open it as a project.
You only get the error when you've saved the file as a template and then try to start a new project using that template?
I see. Well, I don't know how to solve that problem.
But as a workaround until you can solve it, you may of course start a new project by opening that project file and immediately doing a save-as with a new project file name.
Hi @Anonymous
Please see HERE for a similar discussion
The primary cause is that Revit LT couldn't open older families or project files prior to 8.1, because there was no BasicFileInfo stream in them.
The solution would be to use a full version of Revit to open the file. You can download a trial of the full version and use it for 30 days.

this is a ridiculous idea, so to use my template i have created in LT i need to download full Revit? i thought files opened in full revit couldn't then be opened in LT ??
Download the trial version. Open, save your template. Live happily ever after.
