Tag location issue

Hi Helpers,

I am not satisfied with the result of tag location in Revit.

Without leader lines, it is not obvious but when I use leader lines I wondered why tags cannot be located center of each family nicely.

Does someone give any reasons why tags are slightly off the center?

I would appreciate if you point out any process I might need to care or is that only one of Revit's feature?

Thanks in advance,

Yuki

If you set the leader with attached end then a center reference plane of the tag always align with a center reference plane of the host.  On the other hand, the end of the leader is centered on the extent of the tag.   So, when the label is not right on the center reference planes, the leader will not at the right angle like what you show.  That is why most of the OOTB tags have box, circle, or other symbol in order to align with the reference planes because there is no mechanism to align the label itself.

So, if you can add a box around the label to ensure the alignment, set it to Invisible object style if you do not want to show it in project.  Example below show a tag with the label intentionally off to one side, but the leader is still straight because it has am invisible box.

@ToanDN, with all due respect, that's not entirely correct. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you. Are you saying that the Ref Planes in the family are driving the leader line location in the project?

Alright. I see. You guy are talking about leader lines in relationship to the Tag FAMILY, not in relationship to the FAMILY being tagged. Got it.

Whew! That was a close one, Toan.  I thought for a minute that you were going down. But, you didn't. You hold onto the belt and remain the undefeated champ!  Smiley Happy

Thank you so much!!

This makes sense!! I should have thought of that reason!

I have another question related to leader line.

It won`t be appropriate to have two threads on one post so I will post separately.

I hope you can help me as well.

I don`t often show leader lines for tags but I had to know they are placed in the right center of family

for my strategy to allocate all tags without less pain.

Thank you again!
