Hi everyone,
I created a door family with a nested lintel family.
My probleme is that when I tag the nested family (structural framing) the tag is not rotating with the family.
I know that there is some families remain immune to tagging but the structural framing is not one of them.
Thank you.
Works for me. Is the Lintel a shared family? Did you tab-select to Tag it in the Project?

Hi!
Yes, It's a shared family. However I didn't undertand your second question.
I fogot specify that I'm using a structural framing tag.
Open the Tag Family. Under Family Category and Parameters, check Rotate with Component.
Save/Reload Tag into Project--overwrite w/ parameters.

Use the Tab Key to cycle through overlapping elements. In this case, the host is overlapping the nested shared family. And, yes, I used a structural tag too. It works.
Hi Barth,
I think the probleme is that when I created my lintel (shared family) I used a Generic Model Family Template and I changed the category to Structural Framing. I have done any tests and It works when I use a Structural Framing Family Template like a lintel.
However the Beam Annotation Tool is blocked now.
That is an interesting behaviour that I don't understand.

So, I just tested, and I can confirm for you, that it does not work when the Shared Nested Lintel Family is created from a Generic Model Template and then re-categorized to Structural. Hope this helps you. At least, we figured out why. Bummer though, if it means you got to rebuild a bunch of families. I feel your pain, dude.
Good Luck.
p.s. don't suppose that earns me a little green check mark? ![]()

ahaha!
A lot of work, yes, at least we found the solution!
Have you tested the beam annotation tool?
When I use a door with a lintel(structural framing family) I can't tag my beams(regular beams) automatically with this tool any more.
I have to hide all doors.
Do you have the same probleme?
Tag All works for me. Tags both the Host Generic Model Families as well as their Nested Shared Structural Families -- and the Structural Tags are at an angle! Sorry.
YES!!!! I see what you mean now! Beam Annotation tool does not work when there are Shared Nested Families in the Project -- for ANY beam!
Darn you, @Anonymous! Now this is bugging me too! WTF!

Tag All works for me too. However "beam annotation" doesn't work.
@barthbradley I know this was years ago but how did you go about constraining the lintel (nested structural framing) length to the door width?
