I'm trying to figure out a way to tag casework in linked models with a custom value.
We are showing equipment our model (foodservice) that needs to be coordinated with casework in the architectural or interiors model. The casework is not in our scope and will be detailed by the architect.
Our process until now is to put a placeholder family in our model for the sole purpose of putting a tag on it.
I'd like to eliminate the placeholders, as we constantly have to adjust our placeholders to match the architect's changes. But we still want to tag them with an item number that we assign.
I know I can do it with a generic annotation (dumb tag), but I'd really like a multi-category that will attach to the host. I've tried linking a generic annotation into a multi-category, but I can't get it to pass that parameter through. the pass-through works for the parameter to make the tag wider, but not edit the text instance.
Is there a way, or do I just settle on the generic annoation?

Because our schedule/specs identifies who's scope it is in.
Our Design Director feels that if it is in our area, and untagged in our drawings, no one will take responsibility for it and it won't get built.
What would these Tags say? "N.I.C."?
Why don't you just not show the "N.I.C." cabinets in your views (e.g. hide 'em)? Or change their color/linetype to set them apart from the other cabinets that are in contract?
The tag would be 1.100
The schedule would say 1.100 - Counter - NIC/Millwork
All millwork is designed & detailed by the Architect/Interior Architect.
However, they could be provided under the General Contractor's contract, the Kitchen Equipment Contractor's contract, the Interior Designer's contract, or someone else.
The thought is that if we identify that it is not in our contract, that we are not responsible it doesn't get built.
