Symbolic lines of a family don´t show in 2D when placed on a surface with slop (Layout view)

Hi community!

 

I am working on a family - drainage cover plate. I would like it to show as it normally is in 3D since it is to put them on a platform(s). But in 2D (layout view) I would like to see a simple circle with an X in the middle. I have managed to solve it with drawing system lines on the families and just unckecking PLAN/RCP view. But whenever I have a platform with a slope it does not show me the system lines. Instead I see the complete element. Explaining with examples:

On the upper part is a platform without slope (white) and on the lower one is one with slope. 

 

Attached also the model.

The symbolic lines will not be visible when the family is hosted on a Face or Workplane that is not parallel to the view in which the symbolic lines were added (in the family) => in your model the symbolic lines will only be visible when the family is hosted on a workplane that is NOT parallel to the Level datum.

  • However, if the family is hosted on the Level datum, the lines might be hidden by the floor element when the sub-elements of the floor are modified. A possible solution is to host the lines on a reference plane above the Ref. Ebene in the family.

Question: Don’t you need to add a void to cut the floor element? Since this is a drain/drain cover, shouldn't there be an opening (brauchst du kein Durchbruch, oder?)? This might effectively solve the issue of the floor hiding the cover, ensuring the symbolic lines remain visible.

 

If you need to host the cover on an inclined plane, you might want to use model lines instead. However, keep in mind that model lines will also be visible in 3D. Ideally, such families should be modeled as adaptive, where the 3D object follows the host while the 2D symbolic lines remain parallel to the Level datum (Global Normal).

 

Another important aspect to consider is the Scheduled Level. I've noticed you changing this arbitrarily. This parameter neither affects where the family is hosted nor its elevation—it only determines how and where the family appears in schedules.

Also, ehrlich gesagt, weiß ich nicht, ob ich einen Durchbruch brauche oder nicht.

 

It will definitely generate a problem with the Kollisionsprüfung when it is not there. And yes. I kinda knew it had to be parallel to the plan in order to be seen.

 

What I thought I could do, was at the end, just change the Deckel to Immer Vertikal. I cannot change it before, otherwise it would not allow me to place elements in platforms with slope. But I don't know what consequences that could have.

 

What is your opinion?

Changing it to always vertical would yield the same results as if you are hosting it to a level. Either ways you would need to give it an offset from host so that the floor would not conceal it.

 

Try the always vertical + the suggestion from previous reply.
