Sweeps and Parameters

All,

I am currently detailing up a façade panel system for the company I work for. I have up until now successfully detailed everything including an external corner, made up of 4 components; these being 3 extrusions and a sweep. the external corner has been detailed so that it can be manipulated within a project, so I have used parameters and formulas to achieve this.

I now have a problem, I have come to detail an internal corner, but when I try to add a parameter to the sweep, I am presented with an error message. I know it is possible to do because I have achieved it while doing the external corner, I was wondering if I was missing anything this time around.

I have been able to successfully add parameters to the length so that all components act as one entity, but I cant get around the error message so that the width can be changed. I don't believe the sweep is over constrained, so I am completely stuck at the moment.

any assistance will be greatly appreciated

What happens when you click the remove constraints button?

I don't know if this is your issue or not... but be aware that...

Most any sweep you model can have its LENGTH associated with a parameter after the fact - meaning you can align/lock the ends of the completed form to reference planes that are dimensioned and controlled and the form will stretch appropriately. But a sweep cannot have its PROFILE SHAPE - which of course establishes its WIDTH - in the same manner after the fact. Its WIDTH must be so controlled right within the profile sketch.

I hope that will make sense if you think about it.

PS - So if you've made a separate profile family that you've nested in and used, as apposed to just sketching a profile right in the sweep directly, then you'll have to set up the control in that profile family and also set up matching, associated parameters in the main family so the values get passed through to the profile.

I have prior to this, used the same sweep to constraint and detail an external corner of a façade panel. the components and exactly the same, except the material finish is either external or internal to the crank.

further to this, I don't believe this is my issue as I am not actually changing my process of detailing, it is exactly the same as I have done with past projects, the parameter just doesn't seem to corporate with it.

after I remove the constraint, the 3 extrusions will extend or contract to suit my input value while the sweep will remain at the initial width...
