SWEEP AROUND A WALL OPENING

is there a way to add a wall sweep around an opening in a wall? I have created my custom profile and created a wall sweep, but cant get it to go around the wall opening to show up like a cased opening, if that make sense

Model an In-Place Sweep instead.

You can build the sweep in a opening/door family so that you don't have to place them manually for every opening.  Basically open any door family, get rid of the panel(s) and linework such as swing lines, keep the frame, save as and load it in.

If you want to use Wall Sweeps, then model 2 vertical and one horizontal, use their grip to adjust the length, then join.

in past i have done this with a Door/window "Opening" family, no door or window, just the opening and the sweep. if you do it as a Door/Window opening, you can also schedule the opening :-). ill see if i can find one and post it.....

No In-Place Component in LT?  Wow. Model it as a Loadable Family then.  You can make it fully parametric to meet all sizes of Openings.

Out of curiosity, why not use Vertical and Horizontal Wall Sweeps and Join them?

i like that, but I have an odd angle that i need to place the sweep on. I am rtying to quickly fake in a trapezoidal window, as I dont have the time ot learn how to create a window from scratch now. attached is a screen shot of the opening

Tell you what, just create another thin wall in front of the opening, edit profile and make it the shape of the casing.  Or LT don't have edit wall profile as well?

start with this.... edit the opening as needed.

Besides given answers, it might be an option to use a curtain wall edited profile with (customized) mullions. The in-place sweep solution is easiest though...

Attached is a trapezoid you can "shape" with shape handles in the Project.
