Surface pattern setout in family (tile pattern)

I have some families (for bathrooms and kitchen tiled splashbacks)

I want to be able to control the tile setout (surface pattern) of my family in my project. The splashbacks and bathrooms vary in width for example, and I want the tile setout always from the centre of the length in the case of the splashbacks, (see below)

Seems I cannot set some parameters to control the setout of the surface pattern in my family.

ie I create a locked dim from the pattern to the centre line. When i increase width of my extrusion, constraints cannot be satisfied. Can the pattern not be controlled independent of the geometry?

Of course I could model these splashbacks as walls in my project, that might be logical for the kitchen splashbacks, but not for the bathrooms where we have plinths and boxing out etc in tile that must remain in the family.

thanks, Alina

Are you trying to make a parametric surface pattern in the Family?

the pattern is just a standard model pattern of a 300mmx100mm tile

I essentially just want to be able to set a unique tile setout point per instance of my family (and from the main model)

the same way you can use the align tool to align the surface pattern on a wall

hope it makes sense

i did this with a table and it worked. make sure the same pattern is set in all types being used. As long as the material is the same in all my table Types, it keeps the pattern centered.
