Structural Framing - Incorrect Volume - How does Revit calculate the volume??

When printing a structural framing schedule, I printed off the 'Volume' of steelwork which I assumed was the Area of Steel x either the length or cut length. However, The volume is actually giving slightly different values to this calculation. Does anyone know the actual method/calculation Revit uses to produce the volume in the framing schedule? Only relatively small differences but when there's a lot of steel members it makes a big difference!

Any help appreciated!

Great question, I'm dealing with the same issue.

Related: why do "Volume" and "Material: Volume" return two different values?
