Hi guys,
I am wanting to learn structural connections and have no construction background. Is there somewhere I can read about which type of connections to use for different beams?
I have to make a plate in between these two beams with bolts, and I have no idea which connection to use.
Thanks in advance.

edit: i misread your post. oops!
Click on "Structure" then click the arrow underneath "Connection" as shown below by the red arrow.
A dialogue box will open with all the available connections. Add the appropriate ones then press OK.
After you have done that, select both pieces of steel you want to connect and press the "connections" button. In the properties sidebar you can then select one of the connection types you loaded in. All of the connections are fully parametric and very customisation.
I humbly suggest that neither Revit - or this forum - can teach you structural engineering. Maybe there is a structural engineering book about steel connection types and their pros/cons or suggested use cases? Something like this:
They usually teach it in engineering schools but if you don't need to go for load calculations, only for design intent, then you can google it with keywords like "structural steel connections" and find out what is close to the configurations you need.
