Make sure column property Precut is unchecked otherwise check the View Range Cut Plane offset...if all fails embed a nested detail item

Revit considers 4 foot columns dwarves. If you want to show the cut pattern for those, make them taller and attach the top to a ref plane at the height you want.

Dwarves?! If that was a joke then it is definitely a good one : o) ... try unchecking/unticking the "show family pre-cut in plan view" property of the columns and reloading into the project...
