Structural Column Wall Join Problem

I made a copy of and modified an existing masonry structural column family. Since I modified it, the new structural column family is joining with walls like an architectural column would. Also, after pulling the column off of the wall after it has joined, the column lines become thin lines. I have spent a few hours troubleshooting and have figured out what is causing the problem but I cannot figure out a solution. When I modified the extrusion of the original SC family to show the outline of a masonry column, it immediately started having the join issue. I went back into the family and deleted out the modified portion yet the problem persisted even though the "new" SC and original SC now were exactly the same again. Anyone know what's going on?

Thank you for the reply. This fixed the issue of the column lines becoming thin lines after joining a wall; however, the column itself is still joining to walls.

Share the family here.

The file "no instance parameter" is the column I modified. The 12 x 12 is the original family I used to make the new one.

Which one do you prefer?  I guess No. 2.

No. 3 Actually. That's it!

No. 3 is what I initially got when I placed the structural column without doing anything else.  No. 1 and No. 2 require join geometry with different join orders.

Edit: is your wall structural or architectural?

Structural wall. I just tried placing it on an arch. wall. It didn't join. I can manually unjoin the column from the structural walls. Thank you for the help. Issue solved.
