Stringer connection on 'C' shape stairs

Hi guys,

has anyone got a solution for this stringer behavior on its connection in a 'C'/'U' shape stairs format?

the stringer connections on the outline are perfect but when it comes to the internal part of the stairs they don't run smoothly as we would like.

Cheers!

Claudia

Which version of Revit are you using? Here's a screenshot of a simple stair like yours done in Revit 2017.2 The stringers seem to clean up properly.

It looks like Revit spazzed-out there. Hard to determine what solution would work without seeing the file and playing with it. Want to post it?

Hi Cliff, I'm using 2010.2 as well and with a normal stringer will be fine but we are editing it and using a 'C' shape stringer in a 'C' shape stairs and that is what is happening. Funny is that in a 'L' shape will be completely fine. Cheers, Claudia

What you show is the expected result with the C profile stringer. The wider the stringer profile, the longer segments are needed for the sweep when it changes direction. See the attached example when I moved the runs away from the landing to "relax" the sweep path.

Hi ToanDN, Thanks a lot, you are a star! I just wish that your solution could work with the smaller path that we have as the stairs need to fit on a constrained space that already exists. Perhaps, something for Autodesk to consider developing along other things to increase the workflow in Revit. Many thanks Claudia

@Anonymous Thanks for your kind words! If the original stair layout was built in real life then the stringers would be broken up quite similar to what you show. The builder would need to provide additional steel connection such as a vertical plate to connect the segments. It is pretty common.
