I can make a vertical tread support post work as a baluster family, and adjusting the railing path, and top and bottom offsets. But I cannot make a perpendicular post work as a similar family. There has to be something I'm missing in the perpendicular baluster family, or another way to approach it that I'm not seeing. TIA.
Your "Baluster - Tread Post Base Perpendicular_2" Family is all screwed up.
Did you you take a look at it? I'm surprised you got it to work at all.
Plus, if these are to be Tread Supports, they should be defined in a Railing Type where 1 Baluster is placed per Tread.
This version works better - well, good enough for what I need at this moment in time... I aligned the Top RP with the Center (Front/Back) RP as opposed to aligning the Bottom Rp as in the previous version.
To get it wok, I have to manually move the tread post railing horizontally in a section view to align it with the slab tread, and then tweak the top and bottom offsets. Less than ideal, but close enough.
I did try to use the Baluster Per Tread option, but it doesn't give control over top and bottom offsets. It's only intended for balusters that are attached to the top of treads that go up to a top rail element. Perhaps if I messed with the family more, it might work. But I've already spent far too much time just getting to this point.
