Hi! I've recently been trying to create U-shaped stairs (Cast-In-Place Stair: Monolithic Stair default Revit family) by sketch in Revit, and despite my best attempts to do it with just one stair run I couldn't do it. Either an error message has popped up or the stairs have been invisible in all views apart from the plan view i created them in.
I'll attach several screenshots depicting what I was trying to do (the screenshots are in the "Sketch-based Stair errors.jpg" file and they are divided into groups numbered according to my actions just like my descriptions below).
I'm also attaching the project file (Revit 2024) if anyone wanted to check whether my settings or stair types could be preventing the stairs from being created).
1) At first I created the stairs by creating 3 different stair components that together kind of seemed like what I was attempting to design, but they where (obviously) not one stair element so I deemed the method unsatisfactory.
2) Second, I made a U-shaped stair run and filled the space in the middle with a landing, however the stairs (for some reason) where facing the wrong direction and after trying to flip them Revit showed an error message. The stairs where not (or should have not been) attached to the landing as the landing was at the relative height of 450mm and the stairs where going from 0 to 450mm in the opposite direction. Also, while in 3D view, the only element of the stair visible was the landing, despite the run still being visible in the plan view.
3) After deleting the stair landing I managed to flip the stair run, created the stair landing again, and so managed to create the stairs in the desired shape, however, again, the stair run was only visible in the plan view, and not in the 3D or Section Views.
4) The next thing I tried doing to create the desired stair was deleting the landing element altogether and instead making it a part of the stair run, by turning the setting 'End with Riser' off and enclosing the stair run with an additional riser line (in place of the previous landing element). It seemed to work and Revit did not show any error messages, but the staircase was once again not visible in any views apart from the plan view.
5) The last thing I tried was creating several different stair runs in the same stair element. At first I had a problem with making them face the desired direction as flipping only one run was not possible and I couldn't control the default direction the runs I created as sketch-based where facing, but after I created them with the Run>Straight function I converted them to sketch based and made them fit the desired shape. After that I created a stair landing and the whole staircase was working well and displaying in all views.
However, I deem the last solution to be unsatisfactory as it still necessitates the use of several stair runs, even if they are part of one stair element.
Is there any way to create a working, well displaying, not creating any errors U-shaped stair run?
Also, I'm really curious as to why the solutions I tried to implement didn't work.
Thanks in advance
