Stairs along irregular curved path

Hi there,

I was looking to a way to create a staircase following a curved path. In my case I want the stairs to follow an ellipse, as shown in the picture. Revit doesn't allow the element to follow nothing curved but a perfect circle, which is strange. I managed do avoid this problem with walls and facades creating masses, but I doubt them will work with stairs as well. Thank you for the help.

True elipses in Revit are problematic.

Try using Arcs to approximate the true elipse.

You should be able to create your Stairs using Arcs in the sketch mode for Boundaries.

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately it's not a great solution since composing the stairs with multiple arcs is very unprecise 😞

Yes--I realize that.

But trying to do a true elipse will probably not work and will cause more wasted time and frustration.

Draw the ellipse in AutoCAD with the variable Pellipse =1 do that it is drawn as a polyline. Then link or import the cad file in Revit and you will be able to trace the polyline when create the stair stair boundary by sketch. It will be as close as the original ellipse as it can be.
