Stair railing in 2 different styles

Hi, 
I was wondering if it is possible to create in 1 type railing that is meshed at risers and regular posts and balustrades at landings, or do I have to create 2 different railings and draw them in manually?

One type of railing cannot do all the things that a railing needs to do for a stair. You need several types. Usually one type with handrail only, another one without handrail but guardrail only, another type for beginning of the stair, another one for the last landing, etc...

I was afraid this would be the case, so cumbersome. 

So how do I combine all 3, do I keep layering the railings until I have the complete set, or will Revit delete railing and only allow 1, like it does with other things?

You can place multiple railings on one stair using railing by sketch then pick new host and pick the stair. Or you can try to place one railing and copy paste in place, then change the copy to another type.

Revit will not do anything to make the railings correct. You need to make it work to comply with codes, using multiple types of railings, and using them where it applies.

Yeah, I already started doing this as the railing started to break on the different landings/slopes when it was one continuous one. So I started breaking it up. Thanks for all the help guys! 🙂
