Stacking levels

Hello,

Can someone explain to me how to stack levels I have all my floor plans but I want to be able to stack them on top of each other. When I get to level 3 it is still showing my level 2 plan when it should be clear. If someone could tell me how to fix this I would appreciate it. Thank you. Below I attached a copy of my project.

Hello @Anonymous

Your file was saved in later version so I couldn't see it but any way ! it seem that you turn on (underlay)????

If you put any plan in underlay you will see it in half tone under your plan !

is this your problem ?

Your jpgs are not opening up for some reason. But my underlay is looking down. It is showing my previous floors when I want it to be blank on the 3rd floor so I can put each floor on top of each other.

I want to be able to take the floor plan on the left side and put it on top of the right but it is not grayed out like the image below. It is still showing the third floor walls and I have my elevations done. Let me know if you need to see anymore of the properties

First thing first - this is Revit, not AutoCAD. Your screenshots show all floor plans created on one view, as could be done in AutoCAD.

Window in to select the walls for the 2nd floor. In Properties, change the Base Constraint to Level 2 (or Second Floor, depending upon what you have named the levels

For future reference - the best workflow to create a model -

1) Create Level 1 model

2) Select Level 1, Copy

3) Paste to Selected Levels

4) THEN tweak to create other floor plans

Hi

@Sahay_R just to continue with your explanation..

I would suggest @Anonymous to work have multiple views open while working.

Copy and paste on levels and see in 3d whether you are getting it right..

Cheers!

Yes, @Corsten.Au, because his next challenge is going to be to make sure that his levels line up!

The problem is not having my levels line up the problem is that on the third floor it is showing my second floor walls when it should just have the exterior walls of the building showing so I can paste the 3rd floor set into that box I made. When I do what you suggest it just makes copies of that level which I do not want. I attached my project maybe you can look at it and see and I also pasted a screenshot.

In Properties - look for Underlay, and set that to None.

Change your View Range.

Your Floor Plan: Level 3 has its View Range Bottom and Depth values set to negative four feet. So of course in that plan view you can see down into the walls below.

Toan nailed it.

But I am more curious about your modeling methodology. Why do you model the interior layout of each floor in a different X-Y coordinate and then line them up afterwards? Why don't you just model them where they belong in the first place?

Hi

View range will definitely fix that.
It also gives a proof that you haven’t modelled floor on those levels which is allowing elements below that level to be visible ..

To have consistent view range, VG etc try using “view template “if you know how to use it. If not then continue with the way you are going..

It's true in this case, but the ability to see walls below is not a proof that no floor element exists. I can think of a LOT of ways that a floor element can exist but the walls below it still show in a plan view.

I don't deny that 🙂

wireframe, underlay and so on...

that would be the next step if even after floor its visible then we can solve that.

Am sure you will agree.

Cheers !

Thank you so much that fixed it but for my last floor I'm dealing with the same issue that it is not allowing me to edit it. It is placed in the 4th floor but the view is greyed out. I was wondering if you could help me out on this last problem. I attached my project below.

The reason for this model was because I wasn't sure what floor plan was going to be where. I figured I could just draw all the plans in the first floor and extend the first floor walls to the roof to make a box then just copy and paste but it didn't work out in my favor without these problems lol

1. You want stuff on Level 3 to be on Level 4 instead.

2. But you can't select it from within the Level 4 plan view.

3. So...

4. Select the stuff from within the Level 3 plan view.

5. Use the Modify > Clipboard > Cut to Clipboard tool.

6. Then use the Modify > Clipboard > Paste > Aligned to Selected Levels tool, and pick Level 4.

7. Or...

8. Toggle the setting for Select Underlay Elements at the bottom right corner of your Revit screen so you CAN select the stuff from within the Level 4 plan view, and THEN do steps 5 and 6.

9. In either case...

10. Put all the View Range settings for the Level 4 plan view back to the default values instead of the crazy values you've got in there now.

11. Learn from this, so you don't have to come back tomorrow and ask how to move something from Level 4 up to Level 5.

12. Give me Solution pick.
