Currently I am using a standard hard drive on my laptop and when I use revit or autocad, the program runs very slow. Even drawing a simple line doesn't work smoothly. So now I am thinking of upgrading my HD to an SSD. I know that launching the program will go faster with an SSD but my question is if working in the program will also go smoother en faster with an SSD. Does anyone know anything about this?

SSDs have a much faster data read speed, write speed is still faster than that of spinned HDDs but not as much as read speed. So the most significant improvements are boot up time and opening files. Additionally, if you are using a laptop then SSDs are highly recommended because they consume much less power and produce less heat.

Replacing your HDD with a SSD will definitely be a good investment, although what causes Revit or AutoCAD lags may not directly relates to it.

Are you sure, that the data storage in your laptop is the narrowest place of your system performance? What are the processor and video adapter?

I have an intel core i5 processor and my laptop is only a year old. But i have made some changes in my settings for my graphics card and now it runs a bit more smoothly. It's still not perfect but it's already a lot better.
