I am modeling an acute triangular roof which i would like the rafters cut to be square so that the fascia is perpendicular to the roof slope.
The problem is Revit will only do this for one side of the triangle. We have no clue how to fix this. This is the kind of **** Revit needs to figure out. Its been over a decade since the birth of revit. AHH

If you create the roof by extrusion then you can draw a 90 degree segment, length is the same as the roof thickness. Else, use a void to cut the roof edge.
Or change the roof to sloped glazing type, then change the panel to resemble the material (monolithic only) and thickness of the roof.

By "Acute Triangle Roof", do you mean a triangle shape in Plan (e.g. 3-sided hip), or triangle shape in Section/Elevation (e.g. gable)? Either way, I can't seem to replicate your issue (as I understand it) with any roof type or layout design using your slope and rafter cut/depth. My "rafter tails" always come out this way:
Barthbradley you solved it for me with your screenshot. Select the "two-cut - square" rafter cut option, then afterwards enter a fascia depth. I did 1'-0" and that worked for me.
Thanks

This video shows how we can model a house roof in Revit. This video explains the differences between roof rafter cut options in Revit.
