SPLITTING sections lines

this may be rather basic but revit lt is not responding to splitting section lines so they can be positioned in 2 different planes. i place the section line , select it and try to use the split command to enable me have two parts of the same section line that can be placed in different planes  but no success . any help appreciated

Not sure which version and version update I have seen that odd behavior where the split section appeared not to respond or get stuck  and wouldn't place the split segment on second click. However, escape then reselect and drag used to work.

The current version I have seems to work fine

Make sure you use Split Segment tool, NOT Split Element tool.
