Splitting models vertically by levels

We have a model where the BEP says we have to split all walls by level. The model was not made like this, so we have to do a lot of manual splitting.

Is there a plugin or method that will split all walls and columns by level?

I only know Export to IFC gives you that option but that doesn't answer your question.

Are you trying to split exterior walls spanning levels?  If I were you I would fight back and call out the BEP requirement full of sh!t.  Something are meant to span levels.  Worst case, create parts and split parts by levels.

Take a look here:

Not sure if Copy/Monitor Trcik would also work for Walls, but worth a try. ( I have not tested it.)

Thanks @ToanDN, we are mostly exporting IFCs, so this may actually do the trick! I love one click solutions!

Thank you also @cbcarch. The split columns technique seems like an useful hack.

Glad you guys are in here spreading the dark knowledge! Smiley (fröhlich)

I've added an idea to fix this since there are no true solutions right now

Hello,

You can automate column splitting by levels using COPY/MONITOR tool (collaborate tab) in Revit. Select all the columns that you want to divide as per levels into the options please check the 'divide columns by levels' check mark.

Maybe the solution lies in project planning rather than a lack of functionality. These things affect how a project is modeled. Bad planning does not necessitate new features.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I get this comment for the authoring side, however for people who receive models from trade partners this would make our lives a lot easier.

If it is a project requirement, all parties involved should be on the same page. I'm currently working on a multi building project and level coordination wasn't sorted out in the beginning, We are now having to add new links and create new levels and new views for previously modeled stuff mid stream.
