Split section segments and segment gap mess up

I'm running into this problem where if I want to use both split section segments and segment gaps I can't.

I working on this building, and I need to do a long section, but I need to split the segment in order to show what I want. I also want the segments to have gaps, so the line doesn't interfere with the other information on the plan. But when I try to add segment gaps to the section, Revit does this:

The long segments end up with only one control (or maybe they're overlayed?), and the only segment that actually has a gap is the middle one.

I tried doing new sections but I can split them and then add the segment gaps with no problem, and also noticed that depending on where down the line I make the split I end up with one or two segment gaps, but never all three.

Does anyone know how to solve this? Deleting the section and doing it again is out of the question.

Thanks!

Which version of Revit are you using? This one is from 2020

I'm not sure I am understanding you correctly, but set Far Clip to "None" and see if that helps.

I'm using Revit 2019, I tried setting the far clipping to none, but the result is the same, I'm not really sure what's the issue here.
I couldn't recreate the problem with another section to point out exactly what was happening, so I just decided to delete it and copy all detailing to the new section.

Do this section has a dependent view as well? Sometimes when you duplicated as dependent, the section will sit on top of the original section. When you want to click on crop, it will display another section underneath the original.

Nope, just a single section. I honestly don't know what was wrong with it. I had to just delete it and redo it 😕

Hi,

I had the same issue forming slip segments with gaps, (Revit 2021). I found that the issue was that one of the section markers was outside the crop boundary so when the crop region was turned on it displayed only one grip on the segment whose marker was outside the crop region.

To resolve I changed the crop region to bring the marker inside it and masked out the unwanted geometry with a region

It must be a bug, dunno how to report though

It's not an idea for a new feature but a report of a bug in the software. The issue is that if a portion of a split segment elevation or section is outside a view crop boundary the section line does not break properly for the section when forming gaps in the line and for elevations if the step in the segment is outside the crop boundary the view marker does not show. See this forum thread

Hope this is resolved in an upcoming release
