Can you be more specific about what you're trying to do? What is the current family and what are you trying to split it into?

There's not going to be a single click option to do this. The amount of work will be dependent on the complexity of the family.

Open the Family, Save As, edit as needed?

but i agree with @mhiserZFHXS it would be useful to have more info :strahlendes_Gesicht_mit_lächelnden_Augen:.

Thanks so much for your answer.

I have a family inside "Curtain Walls Panel". Its name is 02_P012. I need create a family with the red box types and other with the types of the green box types. The reason of that is for a topic of organization in as_built version. I don´t need create geometry is only change the organization of the family.

Regards.

based on your example, you have a Curtain panel 02_P012 with 12 Types in it. And you want to split out several of the types into a new Panel...

  • Copy the Panel Family
  • Rename it.
  • Edit the new Panel Family
  • Delete the Types you don't need.

  • Open the existing family.
  • Delete the Types you don't need.

Now you can reload them separately and each will have only the types you left in it. The Existing family that is already in the project will still have all the Types. You can delete the Types from the family in the project browser or delete the family from the project and reload the 2 new Families. reloading a family doesn't delete types, only adds them.

This may not be a good idea, because:

1) Once you have 2 families, not one, if you decide to change anything in the family, corrections or enhancements, now you have to edit 2 families instead of one.

2) You can have as many types in the same family, using a type catalog.

Hello,

I have followed the step and in this moment i have both families in my project with the types that i need. One family with all types and the other with only that i want. Is there a way to replace in the project the types of the original family for the types of the new before delete that types in the orginal family and avoid that the geometry dissapear?

Regards.

if i understand correctly... after you load the new family:

  • You could right click on a placed instance
  • Pick Select all Instances
  • From the Type Selector (top of properties window) replace them with the new Type from the new family.
  • Once all instanced are replaced, you can select the original family in the Project Browser and delete the unneeded Types.

I think I got that process correct LOL....
