I'm not sure whether this should be placed in MEP, but as I receive lot of good answers here, I will post it here.
So, here is the picture.
I created one space (stairway) that extends to the second floor (which is visible on cross-section on the left).
Now I want to create space on second floor, which fills this void visible above part of two-level spaces. It doesn't work, though. I put space separation lines all along the right border of the void, but when I place space, it always occupy the whole arey up to the wall on the right, practically overlapping with the whole upper part of the two-level space.
Don't understand what's going on and why separation lines are ignored.
Updating this... I created separators some distance away from space on the right, and the white gap is visible between spaces, yet I keep receiving error message "spaces overlap".
Create a schedule and delete the room that is conflicting from the schedule.
Hi
control the height of the spacethis explains.. space separated ..level wise.., so that they don't overlap..
and create separate spaces for each levels..
Fix height of this area.. create two separate areas.. one for lower level, another for upper..
because the spaces are level wise.. now you can create a new one easily.. ( this whole principle is applicable to ROOMs as well )
What is happening is plainly uncontrolled. I switch to area and volume calculation to be able to create rectangular soffit spaces. That caused space shown in the image to turn into simple rectangle, completely overlapping with space with conflict.
I erased that small space, and now there is no conflict, but does it mean that multilevel spaces cannot be created, especially those with a bit complex geometry? All this talk in documentation is just sellers stories?
It is entirely possible to have rooms or spaces like what you show. See attached.
I won't be able to open this file, while the fact is that I did create multilevel spaces, but received error warnings that could not be rectified, and finally the space changed its shape on its own.

- Turn on Volume for Room/space computation
- Model the walls, floor, roof properly and make sure they are set to Room bounding. You may not even need room/space separation lines at all.
- Place spaces in the lower and upper level normally
- Go to a section, select the lower level space and drag it's top grip to the roof above (or whatever height you want).
