I think, indeed, that this is a real problem.

In Site Plans delivered on worksite is necessary to add one ore more Table(s) of Coordinates.

I see here several ways in which I can solve this problem:

  1.  in AutoCAD . This is a quite easy task in AutoCAD by using Data Extraction > Extracting Points and then Fiter by coordinates :X,Y (and Z). The problem is, that , practically you have to Export the Site Plan in Revit for a good result...
  2. using third parties applications . Several External application, addins  for Revit, also can do this . But, of course , you have to make some extra payments for them.
  3. with Revit instruments.  Even if Revit has, for the moment at least, no instrument to gather Spot Coordinates (X,Y values) into a Schedule , so to be able to create a Table of Coordinates, there is a workaround that allows doing this.

So , if I want to do it just in Revit, how can I do it?

  • My method consists in using Adaptive Points family (Generic Model Adaptive) with shared parameters
  • This method is shown in the attached screencast.
  • The screencast is made for the situation when the coordinates are related to Surveyor Coordinates System (origin at 0,0,0) , that's why it looks to be a little more complicated. If , I'll use a Relative Coordinate System (a custom one), then the task is much more simple. I'll need than only to Parameters , X and Y.

Great idea. In principle it is supposed to work. But the values generated on the schedule are not same as the spot coordinates annotation tag. I tried it a lot but it doesn't work

I was looking for a work around for scheduling out coordinates for external elements.

Below are a couple of scripts I created for this in dynamo. Might help others these do the X and Y.

One for whole category

One for current selected elements

Hi, I tried to download your dynamo scripts but I keep getting an error saying that the website isn't setup yet. Can you help me?

Thanks!
