Some lights missing in rendering

Hello,

RevitRenderingLights_Doubt.jpgI am trying to create an evening render view, and am facing a peculiar problem. As seen in the image, on the left is the "Hidden Lines" view along with its corresponding evening time render with all lights "ON".

While lights 1,2,3,5,7 show completely as required, what is not understood is why 4,8,9 are not showing its lights on the walls that they are mounted on, and why No. 6 doesn't show anything at all.

My version is Revit 2017 and PC config is Intel Xeon E3-1245 v5, 32GB RAM with Nvidia Quadro K1200 Graphics.

Hi @Anonymous,

the lights are the same family and type? And are they all turned on in Artificial Light settings? 1.JPG

cheers,

Kristine

Hi @KristineSlotina,

All the lights in the Artificial Dialogue Box are "ON" as mentioned, and that's what puzzles more. In fact all these corresponding lights are "grouped" together and ensured they are ON individually as well as a group. And these lights are held together with their corresponding walls in the same model group repeated across levels.

If you remove a bad light and copy a good one over, will ir turn on?

Thank you very much for your attention.

All the lights belong to the same group - by light group, as well as by model group. 20170112_Option3_25-2_1.jpg

As you suggested, I tried copying the light at 3 to light at 4 and rendered. It puzzled even more. This is the render, now with light at 3 going wrong though 4 comes as desired.

Another method I tried was that I deleted all the groups above, copied the group corresponding to light at "1" at all the levels above, and rendered, got the second image - with even light at "1" going wrong. Shall I be submitting this file to  Autodesk? Is there a way to submit it to them?

Many Thanks again.

Somehow the images in my earlier post didn't get uploaded as desired. Here are the images with description. On the left is the image with the earlier correct light at "3" copied at "4", and now gone missing along with "4".

On the right is the image with another attempt, where all upper model groups deleted, and the lowermost model group with correct earlier light copied to all levels above. Now even the lowermost light gone missing. It's puzzling.

Are these light fixtures used anywhere else?  If so, are they inconsistent in the other locations?  I asked because all the other uplights inside turned on okay.

Another comment that I shouldn't say but I do anyway is that these lights don't seem to bring any aesthetically or practical value to the building.  In fact the building looks better with those off.

Hi @ToanDN,

Thank you sooo much for your efforts. The only consistent thing I am getting in these renders is repeatability. Render the same scene n number of times generates the same render that n number of times. But the lights if shifted elsewhere lose there illumination. Is there a way to submit such files to Autodesk?

Regarding the Aesthetics, I am still working on it. But this inconsistent lighting in renders is what alerted me as something might be wrong.

My last shot. How far is your model from the Project Base Point? What about deleting all of these troublesome lights and placing them again, one by one, not copying or arraying.

Hey @ToanDN,

Happened to give up all hope, and tried the "Best" render setting instead of the "Draft" setting. Render came out as 100% consistent. Here's the image.

Now I can work on the lights. :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

Special Thanks for your efforts.
