Solar study: the sun disappears during the summer

Hi

I am trying to do a solar study on one of our project located up north in Longyearbyen, Svalbard but the shadows are incorrect when the date is set to the middle of the summer (looks like the sun is north on a plan view).

When I activate the Sun Path in a 3D view, I can see that the sun disappears between the 10th of June and the 22th of August. The same happens in a new standard Revit Metric Template, so it's not related specifically to my file. When I try to move the sun manually to June by dragging it in a 3D view, I end up getting an "Unspecified Error".

This happens both in Revit 2018 and 2019, I haven't tried other versions.

Can it be that the sun just doesn't work properly so far up north?? I get the same issue in north Alaska or Greenland for example. I couldn't find any post on the subject, I guess there isn't that many projects modeled in Revit so far north 🙂

Best Regards, David.

Anyone can reproduce that behavior? Is it just me?

Just open an new project, place the model far up north, set the sun to the middle of june... How does your shadows look? Has the sun disappeared?

Is this a wanted behavior? Is it just not possible to do solar studies up north in Revit? 🙂
