I am creating a solar study in plan view, using an orthogonal camera mode. In the camera view, most walls don't show up. Some walls are visible, but not all. It seems to be random. I have checked the far clip, and visibility. I have also checked the obvious "hidden" elements. Any ideas?
@bretbdesigns it seems pretty odd, are they visible when you turn the shadows off or have a different sun setting?
That doesn't seem to make a difference. I tried turning shadows off, and tried all other sun settings, certain walls remain invisible.
@bretbdesigns Go the the views tab and recreate the view eg don't copy the view.
Makes sure there are no templates or filters involved and that the phase filter in the view is set to none.
This should give you a better clue as to what's going on with the visibility of these objects and you can back track from there as to why they are not showing.
The only other possible reason that they are not visible is that they are part of a design option and are not the primary option.
Hope that solves it ![]()
I created a new camera view from a new section, and the windows are still invisible. There are currently no design options in the model.
@bretbdesigns you need to send the model for this to be solved, are you able to send it?
Yes I can upload it. See the attached stripped down model. It is the 3D view "3D SOLAR Study Plan ORTH CAM"
@bretbdesigns It looks like a view clipping issue to me, refer to the screenshot.
I would advise that you create a 3d view from the ribbon as previously suggested and not from an existing section.
Not sure why you want to create a plan view from a 3D view from a section to get the result you want, why not just use a plan view?

Because a plan view or even a 3d top view would not give a correct shadow presentation. Using a camera view is the correct way to do it.
Yes, your correct, I need the sun to be blocked by the roof, which a plan view won't provide
You're right. I'm not sure why that would make them disappear, but it looks like that is the case. As this is just for presentation, I may export a CAD plan form the plan and import for these solar studies.
