Snapping to property lines in a linked file

Hi there,

I have a central file with several houses linked into it. In the files of the invidiual houses, I have linked the central site plan. The site plan contains the property lines of the plots of land. I'm trying to work out some areas in the files of the houses and would like to snap or pick the property lines, but Revit doesn't pick these up half of the time (or better: rarely snaps to them).

Is there a know issue with this? Or is there something something I can do about this?

if you are trying to snap to property lines, if in plan...use the Pick Line method which is easier but more time consuming instead of drawing them via the Line tool.

if you are in a 3d view, ensure 3d snapping is turned on and try the Pick Line method there as well.

Thanks for your reply.

It seems I wasn't really clear when I said: "snap or pick the property lines". I'm using the Pick Line tool, which isn't finding the property lines. Nor does the line tool snap to these property lines.

are you doing this in plan view or 3D?...technically, it shouldn't matter because Pick Line should be able to read your property lines...

can you tab into the property lines of the linked file?

This is done in plan view. As I'm trying to get surfaces, that should be the correct way, right?

Is there a way to share these lines into the files of the houses? This way I can snap/pick to a line that is then actually inside the same file.

Worst case scenario, create reference planes matching the properties lines
in the link files.

any way you can send me the revit files so i can test the behavior/issue?  I tried the Pick Line command on a test file and I have no issues picking the property lines, tabbing into them, and using them to create additional content such as Model lines.
