Smart/Parametric Finish Schedule?

I created a finish schedule from the room category with the default wall, ceiling, etc finishes in it. These parameters are associated with each room, which means to populate the schedule with finish info, I have to select rooms and add the finishes in the properties. What I was hoping for is that I can add finish info to a wall, ceiling, or floor type and then the schedule would pick up this info rather than selecting rooms individually (I am unaware how you could even group rooms easily to change their finish types). Is that possible?

Use a KEY SCHEDULE for this.

Thanks I'll probably use this but this is still working with room properties. Would it be much harder to add this info to wall and floor types? Say you have different finishes on different elevations of a room and the wall types had that info in them. Then a schedule would pick up this info as walls and floor types change

I'm not following you. Everything you are describing can be accomplished with a Key Schedule.  Why have you ruled it out.? What couldn't you do with it?  There might be a workaround to make it work properly for you.

Look into Roombook extension.  It does what you described.
