smaller titleblock

Good morning.

I created a family title block 30 x 42. you can have several "children" of the same "father" title block: my title block can become a project cover sheet or cover sheet for architectural, structural, MEP plans or just a blank sheet by controlling visibility of certain information pertaining to each discipline, with in-built parametric notes, legends, keynotes.... it was my first beginner family, back in 2017 :zwinkerndes_Gesicht:.

I need the same parametric title block 17 x 22. I opened a 17 x 22 Autodesk template, I inserted the shared parameters file into it but I was unable to insert the same parameters applied in my 30 x 42 one. I did not want to save my 30 x 42 as 17 x 22 as it does not allow to scale to the new dimensions...

any suggestions please?

thank you

I am working on my NCARB towards my California Architect License,
if you think you can help me to complete my AXP, please let me know, I will really appreciate it. Thank you & Stay Wealthy, Happy, Healthy and Safe :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

How did you "Insert" he shared parameters file? did you make Project Parameters for the shard parameters?

@hmunsell I clicked on "Shared parameters button", browse... and my file data popped up into my family

I don't understand your question?   What are unable to scale?

to my knowledge, all that does is set that shared parameters file as a default for when you need to load one.

any time i have set Shared Parameters i have had to set int he family, then in the project file, set the needed parameters as Project parameters (using the Shared Parameter option at the top).

  • Select Project Parameter
  • Add
  • Select the Shared Parameter Option
    • Select button
      • if needed you can select Edit to brows to another shared parameter file
    • select a single shared parameter to load
      • all the parameter data will get preloaded with the exception of the Group Under. you can set that to where ever you want it to appear in the property window
  • select the category the parameter pertains to on the Right
  • select OK

this will add that parameter to the project file.

Note: It is not always useful to overload your title block with parametric information and imbedded legends/keynotes/generic annotation...etc. Always remember that some projects have 100s of sheets and of different formats...that effects the performance of your model as well

I a little bit confused...would you mind elaborating a little bit more on what you mean by you inserted/added the shared parameters to the title block family but you are unable to insert the same parameters applied in the 30x42?

What does that mean?  Are you thinking just grab the whole thing and scale it down like you would in AutoCAD, or like a reduced copy from a Xerox machine?

Just do a Save as from the 30x42 to 17x22, open it and move/re-arrange your titleblock graphics to fit the same information in a smaller sheet size.

@GoldenGateNetwork:  Print "Fit to Page".  That'll do it.

Not sure what the problem is, maybe upload the titleblocks (somew)here to have a look at those...

A few days back I had a similar issue and I was told by friends on a facebook revit group that this Autodesk forum is the best place for guaranteed answers and solutions!

Print to Fit? Brilliant solution indeed but would you be so kind to explain what to do with the scale of views which I have placed on the A1 title block and got 4x smaller when i printed using print to fit on A3?!?!

Use an A3 titleblock... or print to A1? But like I said before, don't quite understand the question/issue...

The question is quite similar to the OP. We have title blocks for A0 and A1 to which we added visibility parameter for various legends, notes  and symbols in the family and we switch on off from the project. We have some submissions to do in A3 and the Management asked to implement same standard for A3. Therefore I was looking for some smart solution to incorporate the A1 and A0 legends and notes into A3 without having to redo everything. The first solution on the find list is this brilliant one!

DOES ANYONE from Autodesk audit these solutions?

. If you are unable to duplicate the type to these dimensions because it does not allow scaling, your answer is in post #8 by @ToanDN , save as new family and rearrange the titleblock to fit the format. And if you are having trouble (re)associating parameters ie. that is a somewhat different matter I suppose...

You have to redo the A3 or smaller title blocks. You cannot rescale or print to fit not only because of the view scale (that is a minor thing which you can work around) but for the simple reason that scaling might cause some important notes become unreadable.

For your other questions..

This is a user Forum, users helping other users. Sometimes the marked solutions do not fully resolve an issue or similar issues from other users. You can always start your own discussion/question and accept the solution find suitable.

Does Autodesk audit this forum? Yes sometimes. But they mostly rely on the Expert Elites. They are also users, not on the payroll of Autodesk and the level of their expertise is also not guaranteed ... so more or less take their (or any other user's) recommendation at your own risk
