Slow printing Revit - Link CAD

Hi everyone, i have a lot of DWG link in my REVIT project (around 30mb). When i print, it take between 2-3 minutes per sheet. The thing is, i have 115 sheets.

When i close my CAD workset, the print take 15 seconds.

Is there a way to print faster with all those CAD on? Is it better to Import or Link?

Thanks!

Regards.

Hi @Anonymous

Welcome to the Autodesk community!

Which Revit version and PDF printer are you using?

Can you confirm if you have the latest updates installed for your Revit versions and PDF driver?

Replace non-rectangular crop regions with rectangular crop regions if applicable.

What are your print settings? Can you share a screenshot and journal?

Regards,

screenshot_1.jpgI'm using Revit 2017.2 printing on PDF-XChange Editor.

Here are my printing setting (screenshot)

I'm only using square scope box. it's what you mean by : rectangular crop regions?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for sharing the screenshots.

Do you get the same results when you try with a different PDF printer?

Please update to 2017.2.4 from your Autodesk Desktop App. Use the Autodesk desktop app to install updates, or download updates from Autodesk Account

Are you printing to vector or raster?

Usually to improve performance when printing

  • Unload all links that are not necessary for a particular view that is being printed. This strategy should reduce the memory resources required to open the file. See Unload and Reload Linked Models.
  • To increase the print speed of elevation views, section views, and perspective views, use the Far Clipping
  • If shadows are not needed for the views to be printed, turn off shadows. See Display Sun and Shadows.
  • property for these views. See Cut by the Far Clip Plane.
  • Replace the non-rectangular crop region with a rectangular crop region and use masking regions to hide elements:
    • To change a non-rectangular crop region into a rectangular one, select the crop region and click Reset Crop in the Mode panel in the ribbon.
    • Then, to hide elements that should be excluded from printed output, use masking regions.
    • See Edit a Crop Region

You are welcome to share the file and a data-set for further diagnosis. It will be helpful if you can post a journal and a screencast of what you are experiencing?
See article Revit - Collecting and sending diagnostic data to Autodesk Technical Support

Let me know and I can send you a private upload folder.

Regards,

I add some ''masking region'' and clean up the CAD files and the print is a lot faster.

Thanks.
