Slanted Column Insulation

Hi,

is there a possibility of an easy creation of a wall around a slanted column? I tried "wall by face" (firstly making a generic model in the exact shape as the column) method, but the created wall cannot be edited - the ends can't be dragged, it doesn't join with other walls, etc.

Below you can see the generic model and the created wall (only half of the round column has to be insulated).

Any form of help will be appreciated :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

  1. Easiest would be to use another slanted column bigger diameter ...switch join order if the initial was not the desired one. (See GIF below)
  2. Alternatively ... add the insulation as an extrusion in the column family (Give it a visibility parameter for cases where you do not need to insulate the column)
  3. Another option would be an in place sweep (you may set it either as column or wall)
  4. And if u r using version 2021 or later another option would be to use a slanted wall

I can think of at least 2-3 other alternatives but the above are the easy basic ones

Hi @RDAOU

Thank you for the quick response!

Unfortunately none of the methods mentioned above matches my needs :enttäuschtes_Gesicht: But in some cases those tricks can do the job, so I'm checking it as a solution.

I've already realised that vertical room boundaries are determined by column base outline - even though I manage somehow to model the insulation in 3D properly , it won't be listed in my "room finishes" schedule which is created with Dynamo script (it takes wall finishes basing on the 3D solid created from the shape of the room).

Anyway, thank you for your time, cheers!
